The Coalfields Regeneration Trust
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is delivering a Mult-Skills Sports Legacy Day at Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster. The day will consist of fun multi-skills activities such as javelin, running, jumping etc as part of a Quad Kids competition, giving each child the opportunity to compete with children from across the country. There will also be a fun street soccer activity on hand to give children an additional activity to take part in.
They are looking for teams of boys and girls aged 8-10 and 11-13 to take part. All participants will take away a memento of the day, regardless of where they finish in the festival. Each team needs to be a squad of 8, being made up of 4 boys and 4 girls.
CRT are reimbursing all coach travel costs to and from the festival and parents and families are welcome to come along (although we cannot pay their own individual travel expenses). It promises to be a really fun and healthy day out for kids, just before the summer holidays kick in.
It would be great if they could get some teams together from the St.Helens area- obviously they would need an appropriate adult to supervise them throughout the day.
The deadline for teams to be submitted is June 30th which only gives interested parties a couple of weeks to recruit. If interested contact anna.wilkie@coalfields-regen.org.uk
Anna`s telephone number is 07736840939.

St Helens Compact Agreement
A new agreement is set to signal greater co-operation between local agencies and voluntary groups.
The organisations that make up the Compact Development Group– including St Helens Council, Halton and St Helens NHS Primary Care Trust and St Helens District Sports Council– have pledged to uphold and implement the new St Helens Compact.
The Compact is an agreement between organisations like the Council and its partners - and the dozens of voluntary, community, faith and voluntary sports sector groups that exist locally.
“All these groups work to make things better,” said Council Leader Marie Riimer. “But by signing up to the compact we now hope to see improved communication between them, increased understanding and effective team working – benefiting the people of St Helens.
“The key principles behind the compact are respecting the contribution all groups make, understanding the constraints each group works to and recognising everyone’s role in providing quality services.”

The Compact Agreement was signed at St.Helens Town Hall on Thursday 27th May 2010. Council Leader Marie Rimmer and Chairman Jean Mulford of the St.Helens CVS signed the agreement watched by St.Helens Council Chief Executive Carole Hudson and fellow members of the Compact Agreement Group. Our own DSC Chairman looks on at the back of the group.

A credit to their sports
Quality kite mark for clubs
Local sports club representatives gathered at the Town Hall to receive their official accreditation from the Mayor of St Helens, Councillor Terry Shields.
Club Accreditation is a quality kite mark, jointly developed by Sport England and the various national governing bodies to ensure all clubs are working towards being safe, effective and child friendly.
The five new clubs to gain accreditation are the Wild Card Amateur Boxing Club, Bleak Hill Rovers Junior Football Club, Eccleston Lions Amateur Rugby League Football Club, Haydock Amateur Rugby League Football Club and the Brazilian Soccer School.
It takes the total to 16 clubs accredited through the St.Helens District Sports Council Accreditation Scheme –in partnership with St Helens Sports Development for various sports which are also recognised by Merseyside Sports Partnership.
However a total of 61 clubs are accredited through their National Governing Body or the St.Helens District Sports Council Accredited Scheme.
The St Helens District Sports Council and St.Helens Sports Development have also produced an Adult Club Accreditation Scheme, which allows all local sports clubs to go through the process.
Benefits of Club Accreditation include increased membership, access to potential funding, stronger club foundations and improved quality of coaches.
As part of the close partnership between the St.Helens District Sports Council and St Helens Sports Development, the St.Helens Sports Development has an Assistant Club Development Officer who works solely on Club Accreditation and Club Development. Anyone interested in either issue should call 01744 675923 or email danielryder@sthelens.gov.uk.
